HI-TECH DOUBLE BRAID ROPES ARE CORE-DEPENDENT MEANING THE STRENGTH COMES FROM THE CORE ALONE. THERE IS NO NEED TO HAVE COVER WHERE THE ROPE IS NOT BEING HANDLED. CHICAGO MARINE RIGGING CAN ADD MATERIAL TO YOUR HALYARDS WHERE IT IS SECURED BY A CLUTCH. THE CAMS INSIDE CLUTCHES ARE KNOWN TO DESTROY ROPE BECAUSE OF SLIPPAGE. ADDING A COVER OR CORE BULK TO INCREASE THE DIAMETER TO THE MAXIMUM CLUTCH SPECIFICATIONS eNSURES THAT THE ROPE IS HELD SECURELY WITHOUT SLIPPAGE. WE RECOMMEND ADDING AN ANTI-CHAFE COVER SUCH AS NEW ENGLAND ARC OVER POLYESTER COVERS.
